With the popularity of vehicles, brake disc locomotives are becoming more and more popular nowadays. How much do you know about the knowledge of brake discs? If you don't know, let's discuss the measures to prevent the brake disc from shrinking with the editor.
Measures to prevent shrinkage and loosening of brake disc: introducing molten iron into inner runner evenly and dispersedly, reducing local overheating of disc and preventing the formation of artificial hot spot. According to the viewpoint of balanced solidification of cast iron, the thinner the wall is, the bigger the shrinkage value is, the more emphasis should be placed on feeding. The feeding mode can be either gating system feeding or riser feeding.
When the feeding scheme of gating system is adopted, the pressure head of straight runner can be increased appropriately, such as increasing the height of upper box, adding gate ring, etc. The horizontal runner is the main unit of slag skimming and air floatation, and when used for feeding, its cross-section size can be increased appropriately. The inner runner should be in the shape of short, thin and wide, and the inner runner should be short (the distance between the cross runner and the castings), affected by the heat of castings and runners, as well as molten iron. The effect of filling and contraction circulation effect, the inner runner will not solidify and close ahead of time, keep smooth for a long time, thin can prevent the formation of contact hot spot at the entrance of the inner runner, wide is to ensure adequate flow area.
Once the casting enters the equilibrium solidification stage where the graphitization expansion and contraction counteract each other, the molten iron in the inner runner stops flowing and solidifies in time, so as to improve the utilization rate of graphitization self-feeding. This is the self-adjusting effect of short, thin and wide inner runner (riser neck) on the feeding.
Some castings with serious shrinkage can be fed by risers, preferably at the beginning of the inner runner, or at the middle core, which can be fed to the disc on the side of the inner runner. Secondary inoculation measures can be adopted for thin-walled small parts, i.e. instantaneous inoculation by adding inoculant in the small package to improve the inoculation effect, promote the nucleation and growth of graphite, add it to the bottom of the package, and rush into the molten iron.
